TNOT Dragon Screamed is not a favorite of mine. Artie's atrocious disguise doesn't help. It must have been very uncomfortable, even painful. The episode could have been better, perhaps if they could have found a more suitable role for Artie to play. The arms dealer might not necessarily needed to be Chinese. Therewere a lot of low lifes of various nationality on the Barbary Coast!
Pilar Seurat was very miscast. She didn't look Chinese (and isn't). Even if her character was raised in the U.S. she should have had more typical Chinese behavior, especially in that era. Of course it was a plot device so that Jim could kiss the girl a few times!
Benson Fong was great as Mo Ti (his name was never mentioned in the dialogue!). Too bad he didn't show up again in a later episode. If ever a character was looking out for #1, this was he!
I did like the opening scene on the dock with Jim watching the "dragon lady" (what became of her?) coldbloodedly order all the men--including Artie--shot down with a Gatling gun. Jim did not hesitate to put himself in the line of fire to save his friend.
Poor Artie when he was given the delightful honor of decapitating his best friend. You can just see his mind racing, wondering what to do next. Then the princess at least saved the day by speaking up.
Did not care at all for the fight in the armory. I'm glad Jim/RC decided to switch fighting styles as the series went on. They began to look more realistic (well, as realistic as a choreographed stunt fight could!). While this fight was well choreographed to me it was silly. Notice how pretty much one man at a time approaches him.In later episodes, Jim could and did defeat more than one man at a time, such as in the bedroom scene in Surreal McCoy. Of course, I was never a Bruce Lee fan. I do enjoy Jackie Chan, but he doesn't take it that seriously. I've also seen a couple of the movies where the fighters fly through the air! Now if Jim was able to do that...
