One of my new favorites right up there with Bubbling Death and Big Blackmail.
Like Deadly Bed, the circus is surprisingly only in one scene. Really interesting to see James West tangle with the MGM lion, and that he was a (very) ameuter lion tamer!!
It was interesting to see the actor playing Professor Montaque in this episode as a prisoner.
The Moore's Emporium, probably named as an homage to Irving J. Moore, is a really interesting place. Did not expect that the proprieter was involved with the counterfeiting scheme with the circus boy fugitive!!
(I need to watch it again to catch all the important minute details).
Also great was Artie's disguises, including his disguise as "Emerson P. Gentry", the distinguished Clark Gable-esque aristocrat who is looking for something nice for his wife. Of the two, I think I like his old guy janitor disguise the best. That one must have been a long of fun for Ross to do; I think it shows when you watch the episode.
Also great were the many many scenes with James and Artie together in the varnish car. Another favorite scene was when they were at the circus eating hot dogs.
Also interesting was watching Red West as a Sherlock Holmes-esque firebug! Very intense.
Really enjoyed James' fight in the storage room, and his frustration in trying to get rescued from the gaseous fumes of the acid.
Interesting twist that Harry Holmes was not even a serious villan. More of a happy-go-lucky type.
Great music, a combination of Jack Pleis' scores for Bubbling Death with some new material mixed in, plus some key passages from TNOT Assasins.
Mrs. Moore reminded me a little bit of Francis Bavier for some reason.
Great great great action-packed episode!!
8 out of 10 from me. .
